Department of Community Medicine has established itself as an important Center of learning for graduates and post-graduate medical students and serves as key department at Smt. Kashibai Navale Medical College, Narhe, Pune and for providing comprehensive preventive, promotive and curative health services to the community. Department of Community Medicine is well equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for the training of undergraduate, postgraduate medical and paramedical students. Postgraduate students from other disciplines are also imparted training in Community Medicine.

The department has been actively involved in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Health Programs and also in public health activitives such as Pulse Polio Immunization, Mission Indradhanush in the local community. Through rigorous community based research and out reach activities Dept. of community medicine has beem striving for evolution of a model of comprehensive health services at Rural Health Training Centre, Kusgaon and Urban Health Training Centre, Kondhwa, Pune. It gives good opportunity to both undergraduate and post graduate students to be high quality public health experts, community physician and communicators and partners in health for the individuals, families and communities they serve.

Department of community medicine facilitates designing research projects, bioethics and advanced statistical analysis and is consistently working towards discovery of new knowledge in the domain of public health, advocacy for application of new ideas in health care of populations.
